PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHT
YAHAIDS NIGERIA is committed to effective reproductive health of young people/Adults as it concerns the spread of HIV/AIDS ST1.And ignoring the reproductive health needs of young people will not make it disappear. The fact that teenage pregnancy, STI, and HIV/AIDS rates have continued to rise despite public concern and condemnation buttress this fact.
Therefore there is need to change the current social norms to make the programme of reproductive health need of young people to be effective. Hence, Yahaids Nigeria will be organizing a 3-day workshop on effective sexual and reproductive health programme for young people/Adults.
Our programme on prevention of HIV/AIDS infection on children and infants will mostly focus on women, mothers, pregnant mothers, lactating mothers and children and infants as well. YAHAIDS NIGERIA will go ahead with the following activities to achieve this programme: -
Primary prevention of HIV infection.
Prevention of unintended pregnancy among HIV-infected women.
Prevention of HIV transmission from HIV-infected women to their infants.
Provision of care and support to HIV-infected women, their infants and family.
YAHAIDS NIGERIA is presently working with people living with AIDS in Nigeria (PLWAs) and helping them fight opportunistic infections and disease progression like TB, etc. HIV fuels the TB epidemic, since HIV promotes progression to achieve TB, it necessary to improve the joint support of TB and HIV programmes for general health service providers, in responding effectively to the needs of people infected with HIV.
YAHAIDS NIGERIA is fighting malaria in the south East Nigeria. Making up five states namely Abia, Imo, Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi States. By preventing and treating malaria in the South East Nigeria through training programmes and provision and distribution of insecticide treated nets (ITNs) for the populace of South East Nigeria. At a cost effective price. And provision of ant malaria drugs for the health centers in the South East. Production of IEC materials on the awareness of malaria disease and treatment modalities of unsevier malaria at home. Etc.
We believe, we have positioned our self to salvage humanity from these deadly components in our society.
YAHAIDS NIGERIA will require the assistance of donor Agencies to realize this objective.
WHY THE SUFFERING
Patients are suffering because of inadequate implementation of that knowledge, compounded by increasing drug and insecticide resistance. As a result,this often fatal parasite is resurging to cause an even more virulent disease today than in the 1960s. YAHAIDS NIGERIA believes that the battle can be won by creating a strategic efforts on the Preventive fronts: mosquito control,awareness of the disease, rapid and complete care of patients, . And other vital Preventive Work strategies including :
* Early recognition of symptoms.
* Use of preventive measures such as sleeping under Insecticide treated nets.
* Provision of Anti-malaria drugs.
* Vector Control Methods
* Information, Education and Communication using some publicity gargets and Public seminars,radio gingles etc.
* Chemoprophylaxis for those at risk e.g Pregrant women.
